Charitable donations by cause (table)

The table shows how much money, in millions of pounds, was donated to five different charitable causes in 2010 and 2020.

Health received the most money in both years. Donations to health rose from £120 million in 2010 to £180 million in 2020, which was the highest figure in the table. Education was the second largest cause, increasing from £90 million to £110 million.

All five causes received more money in 2020 than in 2010. The biggest change happened with environment donations, which almost tripled from £30 million to £85 million. Animal welfare also grew, from £45 million to £70 million, while overseas aid went up from £75 million to £95 million.

Overall, every cause saw its donations increase over the ten-year period, with health remaining the most supported cause and the environment showing the fastest growth.
