The bar chart compares the number of hospital beds per 1,000 people in five different countries.
Overall, Japan had by far the highest number of hospital beds, whereas the USA and the UK had the fewest. There were large differences between the countries at the top and those at the bottom.
Japan clearly had the most beds, with 13 beds for every 1,000 people. This was much higher than any other country. Germany came second with 8 beds per 1,000 people, followed by France with 6 beds.
The USA and the UK had far lower figures. The USA provided only 2.9 beds per 1,000 people, and the UK had a slightly smaller number at 2.5 beds. This means that Japan had more than five times as many beds as the UK.

Japan has by far the highest provision, with 13 beds per 1,000 people — considerably more than any other country shown. Germany ranks second, with 8 beds per 1,000, followed by France with 6 beds per 1,000 people. France therefore sits roughly halfway between the extremes of the ranking.
The remaining two countries lag well behind. The USA has just 2.9 beds per 1,000 people, while the UK has the lowest figure of all at 2.5. The contrast between the extremes is striking: Japan offers more than five times as many hospital beds per head as the UK. Overall, provision is high in Japan and Germany but comparatively limited in the two English-speaking countries.
