Band 6.5
Prompt: What is your favorite season of the year, and why?
Vex: Greetings. I am Turna. Let us begin. What is your favorite season of the year, and why?
You: My favorite season of the year is obviously summer because it's the only time of the year where I don't have to stress about school because the year is finished, a new chapter begins uh in September and I think it's really the time of the year when we can just enjoy ourselves. Go on vacation, travel the world, go out with our friends. So, it's quite an enjoyable time. Vex: I see. And what makes summer different from other seasons where you live? Is there anything particular you enjoy about it?
You: Um yeah, because in summer, unlike other seasons, there is the beach, we can play outside, most of the day are really hot and sunny, and we can also go to the swimming pool, which are which are activities that I love doing. And during the other seasons that I also like, I'm not as at ease then during summer, because for example, during winter break, we have some homeworks to do, we have exams at the end of the break, and it's a bit overwhelming to be celebrating while also having to uh do your homework. So, that's why I prefer summer when I don't have anything to worry about. I'm sorry, did you hear what I said? Vex: I understand. Now,
You: Hello. Vex: Yes, I hear you. We were just talking about summer. Is there anything else you'd like to add about that, or shall we move on?
You: No, I think that we can move on because I said everything that I needed to say. about summer Vex: Very well. For Part Two, I would like you to describe a person who has influenced you. Please say who they are, and how they have influenced you. You will have one minute to prepare your thoughts, and then you should speak for one to two minutes. Are you ready?
You: Yes. Vex: Your preparation time starts now.
You: Can I start speaking? Vex: Yes, you may begin speaking whenever you're ready. You have one to two minutes.
You: So, I believe that the person that shaped me the most as a person is obviously my mother [name] since the day I was born, she did everything in her power to give me the life I deserved and a great education. So, essentially when I was younger, she was very strict with me because I couldn't uh do as much things as other kids did, but when I grew older, I realized that it was only for my own good, for my own sake because um she showed me what I should value the most in the world, which is my family, my best friends, and my my education. Because when I was younger, I didn't care that much about school, but my mother [name] it very clear that if I do I don't succeed in school, I won't be equal with other people. So, I think that middle school was the time of my life when I decided to start studying a lot, especially with my mother [name] was a very brilliant student when she was younger and she did amazing at school. So, when I started middle school, I worked a lot to be at her level, to make her proud, and to make myself proud. After I graduated high school, I realized that it was all worth it because I started to enjoy school. I liked the the topics we were studying. I became very curious, and essentially, I got the highest grade in high school at the final exam of the baccalauréat. So, I was very proud of myself at the time, and then I started a career in uh political science. So, right now, I'm only pursuing my bachelor's degree, but I want to make it uh in diplomacy or international relations, and I know that without my mother, I wouldn't had have had all this motivation and confidence that she gave me to pursue what I dreamed of. Vex: That was very well spoken. And do you think this person has changed how you think about work or study?
You: um Vex: Do you think this person has changed
You: I believe that my my mother [name] my personality from the beginning because I knew her my whole life. So, I can't really imagine how um I would have been without her, but I know that she had a great impact on me because I saw other people that didn't have uh their mother's presence as much as I did and they didn't they didn't do the same thing as me. They didn't achieve that many uh sport activities uh recognition, school uh context and everything. So, I'm sure that my mother [name] had a great influence on me on the academic side and also the human side because thanks to her, I believe that I have the values that every human being should have such as integrity, tolerance, respect of other and kindness. Vex: That is very good to hear. Now for Part Three, let's discuss some broader ideas. What do you think are some differences between the working habits of your generation and your parents' generation?
