Band 6.5

Prompt: You ordered some items online but received the wrong products. Write a letter to the online store. In your letter: explain what you ordered and what you received; describe the inconvenience caused; say what action you want the store to take. (Formal register.)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to complain about an order I made on your website, because I received the wrong products and I am not happy about it.

On the 10th of May, I ordered two items from your online store. My order number is 78421. I ordered a pair of black running shoes in size 42 and a blue sports jacket in size large. However, when the package arrived three days later, the items inside were completely different. Instead, there were a pair of brown sandals and a red T-shirt, which I did not order at all.

This mistake has caused me a lot of inconvenience. I bought the shoes and jacket because I wanted to use them for a running event next weekend, and now I do not have the right equipment. I also wasted time waiting at home for the delivery, and I had to contact your customer service, but nobody answered my email.

For these reasons, I would like you to take action quickly. Please send me the correct items that I ordered as soon as possible, before next weekend if you can. I would also like you to arrange to collect the wrong products, because I do not want to pay for the return myself.

I look forward to your quick reply.

Yours faithfully, Robert Evans

Prompt: You ordered some items online but received the wrong products. Write a letter to the online store. In your letter: explain what you ordered and what you received; describe the inconvenience caused; say what action you want the store to take. (Formal register.)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to report a serious error with a recent order placed on your website and to request that it be put right as a matter of urgency.

On 10th May I ordered two items under order number 78421: a pair of black running shoes in size 42 and a blue sports jacket in size large. When the parcel arrived three days later, however, the contents bore no resemblance to my order. Rather than the items I had paid for, the box contained a pair of brown sandals and a red T-shirt, neither of which I had requested.

This mix-up has caused me considerable inconvenience. I had specifically bought the shoes and jacket to use in a running event this coming weekend, and I am now left without suitable kit at very short notice. To make matters worse, I have already emailed your customer service team twice without receiving any acknowledgement, which has been extremely frustrating.

In order to resolve the situation, I would be grateful if you could dispatch the correct items by express delivery so that they reach me before the weekend. I would also expect you to arrange and cover the cost of collecting the incorrect goods, as the error was entirely on your part.

I trust you will deal with this promptly and look forward to your confirmation.

Yours faithfully, Robert Evans
