Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to inform you that I left my bag on one of your trains last week and I hope you can help me to find it.
I was travelling from Manchester to London Euston on Tuesday 14th May. I took the 09:15 morning train and I was sitting in coach D, seat number 23. I arrived at London at around 11:30.
My bag is a medium size black leather bag with a silver zip on the top. Inside the bag there were several important items, including my laptop computer, a brown wallet which containing my bank cards and some cash, and also some personal documents that are very important for me.
I would be very grateful if your staff could search for this bag in your lost property office. If the bag is found, please contact me by telephone on 07712 345678 or by email at [email protected]. I am also happy to collect the bag from your office personally if it is necessary.
Yours faithfully, James Smith

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to report a bag that I inadvertently left on one of your trains last week and to request your assistance in recovering it.
On Thursday, 15 May, I travelled on the 09:45 service from Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston, arriving at approximately 13:00. I was seated in Coach D, seat number 34, and I believe I left my bag on the overhead luggage rack when I disembarked.
The bag is a medium-sized, navy-blue leather holdall with a broken zip on the front pocket and a distinctive red luggage tag bearing my initials, "J.T." Inside, there is a grey laptop sleeve containing a silver MacBook Pro, a navy passport holder with my passport and travel documents, two paperback novels, and a set of house keys on a silver keyring.
I would be most grateful if your staff could search the train and any storage facilities where unclaimed items are held. Should the bag be located, I kindly request that you contact me at the telephone number below so that I may arrange collection at your earliest convenience.
Yours faithfully, James Turner 07891 234567
