IELTS sample answer — Band 5

The graph compares and contrasts the death toll of Afghanistan, Iraq and Nigeria, caused by terrorist attacks from the year 2011 to 2015.

All the three countries shows a constant increase in the number of death. In the year 2011, Afghanistan, iraq and nigeria have the almost same death toll of 3000. Whereas, in the coming next year Iraq and Afghanistan showed a slight decrease to 2500. However, there is a very minut decrease of count in Nigeria.

From 2012 to 2014, the toll kept increasing making Iraq the highest country with death toll amongst the other two countries, at approximately 9100. On the other hand, Iraq rose up to 7500 and Nigeria showed a modest increase to roughly around 4500. After this, during 2014 and 2015, Iraq and Nigeria showed a decline upto 5000 and 7000. Meanwhile, even in the year 2015, the toll kept gradually increasing in Afghanistan.
